Problem

Thailand faces a severe PM2.5 air pollution crisis with low public awareness, limited civic participation in policy reform, and insufficient understanding of its transboundary nature. Thailand's Clean Air Bill lacks broad public engagement and grassroots momentum to drive meaningful change.

Solution

Hosted a climate action booth at Bangkok Climate Action Week 2025 to raise awareness about PM2.5 and Thailand's Clean Air Bill. Used participatory design to invite the public to co-create policy ideas and voice the types of policies they want to see. Showcased best practices from other countries and highlighted past grassroots initiatives protecting vulnerable rural communities from air pollution.

Goals

  • Raise public awareness on PM2.5 impacts and the latest insights on Thailand's Clean Air Bill

  • Build educational literacy by showcasing best practices from other cities and countries on tackling air pollution

  • Encourage civic participation in Thailand's clean air policy reform

Highlights

  • Public education on global best practices for tackling air pollution effectively

  • Physical lung prototype demonstrating the health impact of PM2.5 visually

  • Showcase of the hub's past grassroots initiative in rural air pollution protection
